At Royal Smile Dental Clinic, we really enjoy answering our patients’ questions about oral healthcare and helping them feel knowledgeable about their smile’s wellbeing. For added convenience, our team has taken the time to compile a list of the most popular inquiries we receive and their answers. Please read through this page and don’t hesitate to contact us if you cannot find the information you’re looking for. Our team members and dentists would be happy to discuss the matter directly.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF DENTAL LASERS?

Royal Smile Dental Clinic uses dental lasers to provide you with more effective, efficient, and comfortable care. Dental lasers help patients who are anxious about dental visits experience greater relaxation – they don’t make the scary noises made by the dental drill, and they decrease bleeding, provide more precision, and promote healing.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I VISIT THE DENTIST?

Even if your smile is healthy, we recommend you come to Royal Smile Dental Clinic in Port Harcourt,at least twice a year for cleanings and examinations. This might seem often, but the mouth is fragile and sensitive to disease and decay. A lot of damage can happen in just six months. By visiting us frequently, you help yourself avoid gum disease, cavities, and eventual tooth loss, which can be the outcome of dental care neglect.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF GUM DISEASE?

One main symptom to look for is bleeding gums. Bleeding gums are sometimes caused by brushing your teeth too hard, but most of the time, this is a symptom of gum disease. Other symptoms include redness, tenderness, bad breath or a bad taste in our mouth, and a gradual loosening of the teeth. However, sometimes there are no symptoms at all, especially in the earliest stages. That’s why we encourage you to come to our office twice a year for exams. The sooner we detect your gum disease, the better off your oral health will be. If we discover that you do, in fact, have gum disease, we offer periodontal therapy to treat the problem.

WHEN IS BRUSHING MOST EFFECTIVE?

Brushing should be done twice a day – once in the morning after breakfast and last thing at night before going to bed after dinner. This is the standard and optimal care which involves brushing within 20 minutes of eating any food or drinking any sugary beverages. Of course, this isn’t always feasible. When you’re out and about, you can help cut down on dental decay simply by rinsing your mouth thoroughly with water after meals or snacks.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I HAVE A TOOTHACHE?

Call or WhatsApp our practice for an appointment. A toothache can be a symptom of a cavity or even an infection that might require root canal treatment. The sooner we determine the cause of your toothache, the sooner we can provide treatment to stop it. Also, because the problems that cause toothaches can also cause more serious concerns like tooth loss, we encourage you to act fast and seek treatment as soon as possible.
